Below are some Frequently Asked Questions, but if we haven’t covered yours please feel free to reach out to us at hello@thebrandstand.co

General Questions

What is a Create-A-Thon?

CreateAthon began as a single program developed by one ad agency for ad agencies, using a 24-hour creative blitz to provide local nonprofits with advertising and marketing solutions. Over 17 years, it has grown exponentially to include not just ad professionals but also students, corporations and creative organizations interested in using their skills and talents to create social change in their communities. Visit http://createathon.org/for more info.

How does it work?

Nonprofits and Companies who’ve been somehow impacted by COVID-19 can apply and project applications are reviewed at which point a select few are chosen.

How will it be virtual?

Prior to event start time, the Lemon+Aid committee will send a Zoom link to both partipants and selected project applicants to join main events (welcome statements, check-ins, closing, etc). The Lemon+Aid committee will also provide Zoom “rooms” to each team.

Do we really stay up for 24 hours?

It is not required for you to stay up for 24 hours straight. That is simply the allotted time to complete the project.

Who can participate?

Anyone! Literally anyone in the world who wants to participate can do so because this event is virtual and inclusive! For reference, the following are just some of the types of skills that thrive in a Create-A-Thon: UX design, graphic design, illustration, software development (front-end, back-end, full stack, etc), web development, project management, copywriting, marketing, operations, strategy, and more!

Why should I participate?

Every project that we work on during the Create-A-Thon encompasses a real-life challenge being experienced by a business or nonprofit organization today. Your participation will therefore make a positive impact on someone’s bottom line. Professionally, consider this an opportunity to further hone your problem-solving skills to impress future employers, partners, and colleagues.

What do I need for the big day?

Excellent question! Here’s a handy list:

  • Computer/laptop with camera
  • A/V
  • Time blocked off from May 9th 9a EST – May 10 5p EST
  • Whatever your creative tools may be (I.e. sketchpad, Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, camera, etc)

How will teams and projects be announced?

Teams and project assignments will be announced during kick-off on Saturday, May 9th at 9a EST. If you have indicated in your application that you are part of a team, we will take that into consideration.

You will also be assigned to a project that best suits your skills. Project briefs will be delivered via a Google Doc, and teams will have the ability ask their client follow up questions once the Create-A-Thon has begun.

What if I don't know my teammates?

There’s a good chance this will happen! Rest assured that the Lemon+Aid committee will do their very best to vet all participants and organize well-balanced teams.
